Collecting Cockle

Cockles at estuary, near stream

Cockle is known as kerang in malay language and niao ha in mandarin. For those who never tried this before, the best time to search for cockles is during low tide near rocky beach and estuary (muara).  You need to be alert in order to find clamp hiding in watery sand. These guy are first timer and we found a lot during our search. To differentiate living clamp, they are vertically positioned where the cockle mouth facing upward as picture shown below

You can hide but not from me

Cockles for dinner
Cockles then are cooked using salt and onions only because that the only ingredient we had, the result edible and less tasty than home cook. Hungry stomach would not care much about taste, everything is delicious when you are hungry and tired. If you are wondering what is beside pan that is oyster been cooked. Well i get into it later on my next story

Map to Teluk Binyuk

Map of Teluk Binyuk
Most probably people does not know where is Teluk Binyuk like myself, only i've heard the name before but never been to binyuk yet. Teluk Binyuk is located at Santubong where the red circle i drew, the land is private property. There isn't any sign to Teluk Binyuk, the entrance is right before corner and u have to park in front of 2 houses which in between there is a trail.

Entrance to Teluk Binyk

The main reason people who go there for hunting and camping and there are others activities like collect durians, looking for herbs and fishing are seasonal. You have to go through forest to reach the beach, normal pace would take about 15-20 mins journey.

Design for hut

Simple and nice design with cheap materials

This one of the project plan which we are going to do on our camping day on 23rd till 25th, most probably takes one day to finish the foundation and since we arent going to stay at the provided house which are for girls. This hut will be our shelter and no camping tent is allowed, i wonder how it would be like in reality?? hope our first day would be sunny to build our hut, have to wait for the trip first then i'll upload the picture. Man Vs Wild Borneo Edition ..stay tuned..
